Folding Chairs with backrests for the beach are the most practical solutions - unless you live beach-side or are able to rent chairs on the beaches you visit. Many European beaches do rent chairs - so keep this in mind if you are taking a trip.

There are some chairs that have coolers on wheels incorporated - more for stronger people - as the weight with cold drinks - pulling through sand is quite a feat. Popular in the late 90´s - these models seem to have disappeared from sight.
