Sand chairs are the most popular seating for the beach.
There is a feeling of being close to nature - while sitting directly on the sand - with protection from actually filling up your body with the element.
The chairs we have seen for this summer - are shown below:
The Chair seen above is available to make. The instructions are simple - give it a try !!
We think the leather jacket and boots to be a bit inappropriate for a day on the beach - yet - why not ?The chair design is promising.
This Sand Chair is a DIY design by Tom De Vrieze. He sells the pattern on his site for around 7 dollars - and estimates costs of materials to be around 25 dollars.
Folly Sand Chair - from Charleston Beach Chair Company is another option. We took some descriptions from their site:
More to come as we find them .....

Folding Sand Chairs |
The beach chairs above are classic sand chairs - sewn into a beach bag from - Jan Voich Designs
The zippered tote allows you to carry your reading material - towels - sandals - with a pocket on the outside to find keys - wallets.
The beach bag then unzips - turns over into cover for the chair. Nice Design - well made and very well priced.
Birch wood - a stiff, close-grained hardwood that grows primarily in northeast U.S. and Canada. A heavy wood, it has a high shock resistance. Birch is very light in color (predominantly a light yellow) and takes any stain well.

It is simple - constructed with a towel - a rag - and four broomsticks.
Treehugger - writes a review:
It's not an especially supportive chair; in fact, your butt will likely be on the sand. But it's enough to prop your back up; I find that much more comfortable for reading on the beach.Apart from its simplicity and minimalism, the Sand Chair takes up no more room than your towel- which you can still use to dry off. I heartily approve.

The loungers below are nicely made - not for taking - anywhere - unless you live up from the beach directly. Fun !!
Folly Sand Chair - from Charleston Beach Chair Company is another option. We took some descriptions from their site:
The Folly Sand Chair is named after Folly Beach, SC a local favorite beach for local surfers and beach lovers in Charleston. The sand can be the most comfortable seat on the beach, but it is nice to sit up to read or watch the scenery so we created the Folly Beach Chair.
Made with teak wood and blue and white stripe Sunbrella fabric. The beach chair is compact and easy to transport to the beach...all you need is a towel , good book and you are ready for a relaxing day at the beach!
Price per Unit (piece): $114.00
